Privacy Policy
How billing actually works: EduOrbex subscriptions bought on this website are a one-time charge for the period you choose (1, 6 or 12 months). They do not auto-renew, so there is nothing to cancel — access simply ends on the expiry date unless you buy again. Purchases are made here on the web via Razorpay; the Android app is sign-in only and does not sell subscriptions.
EduOrbex ("we", "us", "our") operates the eduorbex.com website and the EduOrbex Android application (together, the "Service"). This policy describes what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — when you subscribe, we collect your email address and payment reference from our payment processor (Razorpay). Subscriptions are sold on this website only; the Android app does not sell subscriptions. We do not receive or store your card number, UPI ID, or bank details.
- Usage information — on the website, anonymous aggregate metrics via Plausible Analytics (no cookies, no cross-site tracking). In the Android app, an activity log under a random per-install identifier: which screens, songs, reels, maps and quizzes you open, how long each screen is open and how far down it you scroll, how far you listen and whether you pause, skip or finish a song, the language you choose and the terms you search for inside the app. This is not linked to your name and is used to improve the app and to choose which reminders are worth sending you.
- Crash reports (Android app) — if the app crashes, Firebase Crashlytics sends us the technical state of the app at that moment: device model, Android version, app version, free memory and the code that failed. No content you were listening to and no personal details are included.
- Notification token (Android app) — if you allow notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging assigns your installation a token so we can deliver study reminders. The token is not your name or phone number and is deleted when you uninstall the app.
- Device information — your operating system, app version, and language preference, used to serve the correct content bundle and to reproduce bugs you report.
- Advertising and app-measurement identifiers (Android app only) — the app includes Google AdMob, Google Analytics for Firebase and the Meta SDK. These collect your device's resettable Google Advertising ID, an app-instance identifier, coarse location derived from your IP address, and basic app events such as installing the app, opening it and viewing an ad. AdMob uses this to select and measure the ads shown in the app; Firebase and Meta use it to measure whether our own advertising works. It is not linked to your name, and we do not use it to build a profile of you.
- Feedback you write (Android app) — the app has a "Tell us what you need" box. If you choose to write in it, we receive what you typed and the exam you tapped, stored under the same random per-install identifier as the activity log. It is entirely optional, we only use it to decide what to build next, and it is never shared or sold. Please do not type your name, phone number or email into it: there is no reply path, and we ask you not to send us personal details you do not have to.
- Support communications — the contents of any email you send to us.
2. Information we do not collect
- We do not collect your name, phone number, address, or date of birth unless you volunteer them in a support message.
- We do not use tracking cookies on this website.
- We do not choose or see the individual advertisements shown in the app: they are selected and served by Google AdMob. We do not share your email, account or study data with advertisers. EduOrbex Plus removes all ads.
- We do not sell, rent, or share personal information with data brokers.
3. How we use information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To verify your subscription status and unlock Pro content on your devices.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To send study reminders and notifications — at most a couple a week, in your chosen language, based on what you were studying. You can switch reminders off any time in the app (Profile → Reminders) or in Android's notification settings.
- To find and fix crashes.
- To show advertisements in the free version of the Android app, which is how the free library is paid for, and to measure whether our own advertising works — how many people who saw an EduOrbex advert installed the app.
- To comply with legal obligations, including tax and payment-processor requirements.
4. Third-party services
- Razorpay — processes web subscription payments. Governed by its own privacy policy.
- Google AdMob (Android app) — serves the advertisements shown in the free version of the app: a banner on list screens, a full-screen ad after some songs, reels, quizzes and map rounds, and optional rewarded ads you choose to watch. Collects the Google Advertising ID, IP-based coarse location and ad-interaction events. Governed by Google's advertising policy; you can opt out of personalised ads in your device's Google settings.
- Google Analytics for Firebase (Android app) — measures app installs and opens so we can tell whether our advertising works. Collects the Google Advertising ID and an app-instance identifier. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Android app) — collects crash reports and diagnostics so we can fix failures. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android app) — delivers the reminders and notifications you have allowed, using a per-installation token. Governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Meta (Facebook) (Android app) — measures installs that come from adverts we run on Facebook and Instagram. Collects the Google Advertising ID and app events. From app version 1.4.148 those events include a signal that a song was listened to, so that our advertising can look for people who want to study rather than only for people who install apps; the signal carries the language, never what you searched for or wrote. Governed by Meta's privacy policy.
- Plausible Analytics — anonymous usage metrics, no cookies, no personal data. Governed by Plausible's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — CDN and DDoS protection. Governed by Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Backblaze B2 — audio and asset storage. Governed by Backblaze's privacy policy.
5. Data retention
Account and subscription records are retained for as long as the account is active, plus 7 years thereafter to comply with Indian tax law (Income Tax Act §44AA and GST record-keeping rules). Anonymous analytics are retained for 24 months. Support emails are retained for 24 months.
6. Your rights
You may:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct or delete your account information.
- Opt out of personalised advertising and advertising measurement at any time, without losing any part of the Service: on Android, open Settings → Google → All services → Ads and choose Delete advertising ID (or reset it, if you prefer a fresh one). Ads will still appear but will no longer be personalised. EduOrbex Plus removes ads entirely.
- Withdraw consent for us to process your data (this will end the Service).
Subscriptions bought on this website are a one-time charge for the period you choose and do not auto-renew, so there is no cancellation step — access simply ends on the expiry date.

7. Age restriction
EduOrbex is intended for users 18 years of age and older. The Service is designed for adult aspirants preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Examination and related competitive examinations in India. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes that a person under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact [email protected] and we will promptly delete the account and associated data.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email (for subscribers) and on this page at least 14 days before taking effect.
